Commonwealth’s Attorney for Fauquier County releases statement on use

WINCHESTER, Va. — On March 24, Winchester Police Department (WPD) Officer Morgan Gilcrest made contact with Robert Rampey at Sheetz, located at 2311 Valley Avenue. Rampey allegedly was consuming alcohol in public, and after a brief struggle, Officer Gilcrest deployed his Taser to gain compliance and make the arrest.

Winchester has the Third-Highest Growth Rate Among Virginia Cities

The Weldon Cooper Center for Public Policy at the University of Virginia has released its official 2024 population estimates for all Virginia cities, counties, and towns. Winchester had the third highest post-2020 Census growth rate among cities in the Commonwealth, and Winchester and Frederick County continue to be growth engines in the northern Shenandoah Valley.

It has come to our attention that a scammer pretending to be from the Winchester Planning & Zoning Commission (which does not exist) has emailed property owners who have or recently had Community Development applications before the BAR, Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, City Council, etc., asking them to pay an invoice for a "compensation fee" via wire transfer.
THIS IS A SCAM.

Savage brings a wealth of experience, with nearly two decades in fire and rescue, including extensive training, operations, and organizational leadership. His journey began as a firefighter-paramedic with Norfolk Fire-Rescue in 2005, and he currently serves as their Assistant Chief of Administrative Support Services.
